Tennis Time at the Beach!

For all of you tennis fans, Gulf Shores is now part of the Alabama Tennis Tour. This means there are outstanding courts within 20 minutes of your vacation spot. Oh, and did I mention they are, FREE!!!! Gulf Shores has an immaculate 5000 square foot state of the art facility right in the heart of town. These courts are located at the George C. Meyer Tennis Center which is on West 2nd Street, just behind the Post Office.

This Center boasts 12 hard surface courts, 6 Rubico courts, 4 covered courts, and 2 open. There is seating for 150 and the courts are lighted so you can enjoy evening games and bring your cheering section along. There are also covered pavilions a tennis lounge, restrooms, and observation decks.

The hours of operation are as follows; courts are open 7 days a week 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. The Tennis center is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5p.m. So pack your rackets don’t forget your tennis shoes, and get ready to enjoy cool gulf breezes while you play a match or two. Surf Beagle

As most of you know we have a dog friendly beach in Ft. Morgan and a dog in our office most days! Skyler, is our office Beagle / greeter / boss. We all tend to work our schedules around what the dog needs during the day, and he is spoiled to say the least! We really think that he is of the opinion, that people come to the office just to visit with him. Skyler is not just a lazy lump looking for the next snack or belly rub though. He loves the beach and trying to catch the birds is one of his favorite past times and he is a great surfer. All we have to say is “lets surf” and Skyler is ready to go! We have an exciting announcement to make. Sunset Properties is holding our first annual Summer Photo Contest giveaway, and everyone is invited to enter. So, make sure you spread the word to your friends and family.

Details for the giveaway are simple. Email us at Contest@SunsetProperties.comwith your favorite “beach vacation” picture and a maximum of five sentences describing it. Submissions will be processed within three business days of receiving. Any photo submissions posted on the Sunset Properties Facebook wall will be deleted—your official entry has to be emailed to us.

The winning entry will receive a $ 300.00 gift certificate towards a stay with Sunset Properties. There is also a 2nd prize gift certificate of $100.00 and a 3rd prize gift certificate of $50.00.Pictures don’t necessarily need to be posed. We want GREAT pictures and GREAT stories. If you want to know how we define GREAT keep reading. There is a two picture entry limit per person, per email address so make sure you pick the best pictures you have. Here are examples of GREAT picture ideas/themes:

Are you convinced you should win? We’ll be posting entries in an album on our Facebook Fanpage entitled “2011 Summer Photo Contest.” Please encourage your friends and family to “Like”their favorite picture. In order for a photo to be in the contest it must be submitted to us via email so we can place it in our contest photo album on our Facebook page. The amount of “likes” will be considered in our decision making for the winners. So participants should spread the word to friends and family and ask them to “like” their pictures. Ultimately, our office staff will choose the final winners.

The contest starts on July 1, 2011 and ends on July 31, 2011 @ 11:59 pm. Winners will be announced via Facebook on August 8, 2011. We’re excited to see the entries!

Brandiwine, A great way to unwind

One of our favorite past times is dinner every other Thursday at Tequila’s and Listening to the music of Brandiwine. We were introduced to Eric and Brandi through our maintenance man Jim Merrick who is their sometime guitar player. Brandi and Eric always add fun and merriment to our evenings, when we are trying to relax after a busy day. It is great to live in and work in a community where people are so talented and love to share their gift. Brandi has an absolutely spellbinding voice and their music ranges from Heart to Hank Williams.

When your are out this summer be sure to schedule your Thursday night for Tequila’s and Brandiwine! You won’t regret this great time with new friends, enjoying yummy Mexican and music that puts you in the vacation spirit. You will walk away feeling like a local.

Morning Update: Crews in Orange Beach encountered no problems overnight; did deal with some flare-ups.

I know a lot of you are wondering what is going on with the massive fire at the Gulf Shores State Park – here is the link we have been following.. so far as of this afternoon they are saying it has burned 500 acres.. Please keep Orange Beach in your thoughts and prayers!

Gulf Shores Marina at Ft. Morgan

Did you know there is a beautiful dock store and Marina within walking distance of the Dunes and Indies Condos. This store has your basic necessities for a condo stay and anything you need for a trip on the water. Not to mention it is one of the few places in the area that has Ft. Morgan souvenirs. Not only is this a great little convenience store but his is where you book charters for the Fort Morgan Yacht Club and Marina. In shore and off shore charters leave daily and throughout the day for fishing adventures. When booking a charter the expert staff can help you find just the right captain for you and your group. If you have time definitely try to plan a fishing trip leaving from the Gulf Shores Yacht Club and Marina. You will absolutely come home with the best fish stories and the fish to boot! Father’s Day Fun at the Beach!!!

Father’s day is always a great weekend to travel to Gulf Shores! Of course fun in the sun is why most people come to Gulf Shores, but visitors usually take an evening or two and visit the local attractions or the outlet malls. This year be sure to take some time off of the beach and catch the Balloon Festival in Foley. There are lots of Family Friendly events, sales, and contests to participate in throughout the Foley and Gulf Shores area for your family to enjoy. Be sure to come down for the fun.

Balloon Festival Glow Event & Family Extravaganza

Come join us June 16th-19th for an event filled week-end and super sidewalk sale.

On Thursday, June 16th, the Annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival will kick off here at Tanger Outlet beginning at 7:00 p.m., with a hot air balloon display and children’s entertainment. Hot air balloons will fire up for a glow event at dusk. Then the famous Babin Entertainment group will provide great children’s entertainment and will be handing out free glow necklaces and bracelets while supplies last. Be certain to take advantage of special opportunities to spin our prize wheel with a chance to win store merchandizes, gift cards, carousel rides and other prizes.

On Friday morning, June 17th, at 6:30 a.m. hot air balloons will begin to take flight from Tanger Outlet Center during a special media event, weather permitting. Once the balloons are in flight you can plan to stay and shop our super sidewalk sale.

Also on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. we will host the Rising Stars talent show for the Junior (15 and under) division and Saturday, June 18th for the adult (age 16 and up) division. (A panel of judges will select the top three contestants in each division. The first place winner of each division will be awarded a cash prize in the amount of $200, second place $100 and third place $50. The top three contestants in each division will be invited to compete for “Best of the Fest” on stage at the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival. For those who may not want all the spot light but still love to sing, you and your family can have fun singing and making your very own music video with our interactive singing machine and video recorder Saturday until 4:00 p.m. The only exception will be during our talent contest.

Our DJ will keep the party moving and invite you to join in with family and friends dancing to the macarena and electric slide.

Yes, We Have A Beach

Because we are just near the end of the island and not on Beach Boulevard in the heart of Gulf Shores, many people don’t realize that we even have a beach. The question “Do you have a beach there?” keeps us constantly laughing. I wanted to take a moment to tell you about “OUR” beach here in Fort Morgan AL.

Not only do we have a beautiful white sandy beach that rivals anything you will find in the heart of Gulf Shores, we are only a mile and a half or so from the end of the island. That means beyond the 1000 feet of private beach in the Dunes Community there is another mile and a half of beach to explore, fish off of, and make memories on with your family. Some of my favorite memories over the last five years have been on that beach. It is quiet and secluded, even at our busiest time of the year. There are always new shells and other beach treasures to find and with such a huge stretch of beach there are plenty for everyone.

Did I mention the sunsets and sunrises? Spectacular!!!! Not to be missed. Waking up early before anyone else to enjoy the beach is one thing to put on your agenda. This early morning trip will change your perspective. If you get there early enough you are just in time to see the sea turtle patrol looking for mamma sea turtle tracks. If you get to see these gentle giant’s tracks, it is something you will never forget.

So in a word, “YES” we are on the beach, you should come check it out! Take a look at the beach sneak preview I made for you then give me a call! We have a spot for you!
